The Ethridge Volunteer Fire Dept. is located in Ethridge Tn. Approximately 80 miles south of Nashville, and 120 miles north of Birmingham Al. The Ethridge Community is made up of mostly Amish, one of the only communities that still operate with no cars, electricity, or running water. The Fire Dept. consists of 20 members, all Volunteer, we currently operate under a ISO rating of a 5 if you live within a 1000 feet of a hydrant in the City of Ethridge. As of June 1, 2008 anyone living within five road miles of the station will receive an ISO class rating of 5. We average 145 calls a year mostly vehicle accidents. There are approx. 1500 residents in our primary coverage area , along with a K-8 school,156 bed nursing home, 100,000 sq. ft vinyl siding distribution center and numerous other business.
Funding for the fire dept is 75% donations, and 25% coming from the county government to cover insurance and fuel cost. We have to hold regular fundraisers to pay the bills.
